Only spar full out a maximum of once a month otherwise you will get injured even then with MMA gloves. Remember Injuries = NO training.
Generally try to light & slow spar 3 times a week or if advanced 5 times a week and use MMA training gloves not 16 oz pillows as it will throw out distancing etc. The cowardly Spanish Matadors remove the ends of the bulls horns as it makes it far less likely to be gored - so you get my point.
